Support Our Work

We are always open to new fundraising ideas, both “one time” and “continuing” opportunities. Currently we participate in the following “continuing” fundraising activities:

  • AMBA (twice each year) This is a blood clinic that provides routine blood testing (a basic metabolic panel), no prescription needed, for a fee of around $40. In addition, several specialized tests can be done with a physician’s prescription and an additional fee. Zonta collects a sponsorship fee (usually around $5) from each participant. Tests are done by Quest Diagnostics, and reports are sent to each participant and their doctor. The event runs from 6:00-10:00 AM on a Saturday morning in March and September. People sign up ahead of time by calling Quest directly, and we provide the place (in the past, Oneida High School cafeteria), a breakfast bar with fruit, pastries, coffee and juice, (participants must be fasting when they arrive), and friendly faces who work as greeters, money collectors, and breakfast providers. We also volunteer to provide the food, and we put up posters and publicize the event wherever we can. Z Club girls provide greeters as well.
  • CASH FOR CANS (ongoing) this is one of our easiest fundraisers! We have a standing account with Cash for Cans bottle redemption center in the North Side Shopping Center, 1035 N. Main St. Oneida. When people drop their cans and bottles, they can leave them and say “put these on Zonta’s account.” The employees count the cans, log the amount, and Oneida Zonta gets the money! From time to time, usually after a holiday, we hold a Saturday morning “collection event” with a trailer outside the store.
  • CIRCUS (once a year) typically on a Sunday in January, we host the Billy Martin All Star Circus. In the past, this has been our biggest fundraiser; going forward, we need to wait until we are post-pandemic to continue. All students in all elementary schools in the Canastota, Oneida, VVS and Stockbridge Valley school districts receive free tickets to the circus. Adults and children over 12 years old must buy tickets; we receive a percentage of each purchased ticket price. The circus has been held in the “old gym” at the Oneida Senior High School, and there are generally two shows. We provide people to work the door, sell tickets, and help clean up after the last show. Z Club usually does a raffle as their fundraiser at this event.
  • iGive (ongoing) iGive members can generate donations by shopping at any of our 1,000+ stores.  There are no costs, obligations, nor any hidden fees.: It’s all automatic! You don’t need to enter any codes, notify the store, or iGive.  When iGive members shop via our special links (starting at the iGive.com web site, the iGive Newsletter, or having installed the iGive Button), tracking enables us to identify the purchases of each individual iGive member with a member ID number.  Causes always receive 100% of the donation amount which is advertised on our web site (iGive.com receives fees separately from the amounts that go to the cause).You shop the same way as you would without starting at iGive.
